Who We Are
Living Faith Community Presbyterian Church was formed in January of 2004. However, this new congregation has roots which date back over 140 years! Living Faith was formed when the congregations of Cookstown and Baxter Presbyterian Churches amalgamated, uniting together with a common vision to effectively reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Since amalgamating, the congregation has grown in size, and includes several people who have no ties at all to the former Baxter or Cookstown congregations. Living Faith is a congregation which recognizes that everyone is a minister for Jesus Christ, which is evident in the many and varied leaders that God has raised up from within the congregation. These leaders are putting their skills to use in a variety of ways; teaching our children and youth, leading adult Bible study, and running a variety of outreach programs.
Our Ministry Team at Living Faith:
Rev. Heather Malnick:
Heather and her family began worshiping in Baxter after moving back to the region from Fredericton, NB, in 1995. She began serving the church as Christian Ed. Coordinator in 2000, Student Minister in 2003, and was ordained into the congregation in 2006. Heather and her husband, John, have been blessed with three sons: Cameron, Jordan, and Ben and have been ‘blessed’ (sort of) with three cats and a dog. Life is busy but fun as they enjoy camping, biking, reading, traveling and backyard BBQ’s.
Larry Brolley:
Larry is a life-long resident of the ‘metropolis’ of Egbert and was a long-time member of Cookstown Presbyterian Church, serving as the Clerk of Session among other positions, until Living Faith was established in January 2004. Larry attended Banting Memorial High School in Alliston, graduating in 1971, and he is still able to fit into his school sweater! Larry serves as the Pastoral Care Coordinator for Living Faith and loves visiting and caring for our congregation. Larry is married to Anne who has become known as Living Faith’s resident gardener.
Nancy Gallant:
Nancy shares her time with Living Faith and Knox Presbyterian Churches in Alliston, serving the children and youth of both congregations. Nancy brings passion and enthusiasm to her position as Director of Student Ministries. Nancy leads Living Faith’s After School Club, NRG Jr. Youth Group, 2nd Timothy’s Coffee House, and AMPed Sr. Youth Group. Nancy and her husband Peter have two children, Ryan and Michelle.

Janine Leonard:
Janine’s passion for praising God through music is evident as she directs Living Faith’s Praise Team and leads the congregation in worship each Sunday. Janine and her husband, Trace, have three young children, BreAnn, Parnell, and Camden and they make their home in nearby Thornton. Trace also serves the congregation as part of the Sound Team and Finance Team.
